Terms of Service
Effective May 28, 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Cyclists Connect mobile application, the cyclistsconnect.com website, and related services (collectively, the "Service") operated by Cyclists Connect. By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. Beta testing
Cyclists Connect is in beta. Features, data, availability, and performance may change without notice. We may reset or delete beta data (including accounts, posts, rides, events, and organizer drafts) before a general release. Beta is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. Your feedback helps us improve the product.
2. Eligibility and accounts
You must be at least 18 years old (or the age of majority where you live) to use account features that involve dating, or event registration. You are responsible for your account credentials and for all activity under your account. Provide accurate profile information and keep it up to date.
3. Community guidelines
Use the Service respectfully and lawfully. You may not harass, threaten, impersonate, spam, or post illegal, discriminatory, or sexually explicit content. Do not share others' private information without consent. Trail condition reports and ride information should be good-faith and not deliberately misleading. We may remove content, restrict features, or suspend accounts that violate these rules or that moderators flag as harmful.
4. Rides, location, and safety
Group rides, route planning, RideBuddy, SOS, and crash-detection features are informational and assistive only. They are not emergency services. Always follow local laws, trail rules, and your own judgment. Cycling involves inherent risk; you assume responsibility for your safety and equipment. Location data you share (including with friends or during rides) may be visible to others according to your settings.
5. Events and registration (Cyclists Compete)
Event listings may be hosted by race promoters, trail associations, or businesses. Free event registration in the mobile app or on the website creates a registration record but does not guarantee entry if capacity, eligibility, or organizer rules apply.
Paid registration, waivers, and refunds for ticketed events are handled on cyclistsconnect.com (Stripe checkout when enabled) unless otherwise stated by the organizer. Refund policies for paid events are set by the event organizer; Cyclists Connect processes payments as a platform and is not responsible for organizer refund decisions except where required by law.
On the website, approved race promoters may use Race Commander at /compete/ to create and manage events, race series, registration forms, participant rosters, CSV exports, and published results. Organizers are responsible for their events, accuracy of listings, and compliance with applicable laws. Cyclists Connect is a platform, not the event operator.
6. Organizations and promoter accounts
Trail association and race promoter teams require moderator approval. Owners and admins are responsible for team membership, invites, and use of organization tools.
Trail association organizers may use the Trail Boss Report web dashboard (/tbr/) for trail management, reports, volunteer coordination, and related tools. Race promoters use Race Commander on the web for event CRUD, series, registration admin, and results during beta; the mobile app provides team membership and rider-facing event discovery, not full promoter management.
Organization accounts must not misrepresent affiliation with trails, events, or communities they do not legitimately represent.
7. User content and license
You retain ownership of content you submit (posts, photos, listings, reviews, etc.). You grant Cyclists Connect a non-exclusive, worldwide license to host, display, and distribute that content solely to operate and improve the Service. Do not upload content you do not have rights to use.
8. Shop and third-party services
The in-app shop and website may link to third-party commerce providers. Purchases are subject to those providers' terms. Maps, weather, geocoding, push notifications, and hosting may rely on third-party services governed by their own policies.
9. Payments and sponsorships
Where payments are offered on the website — including sponsorship purchases, paid event registration, and future promoter billing — they may be processed by Stripe or other payment processors. Prices, taxes, refunds, and chargebacks are disclosed at checkout. Mobile beta does not process paid event registration in-app; riders are directed to the website for paid checkout.
Sponsorship and listing promotion purchases on the website upgrade visibility tiers according to the product selected at checkout. Promoters and businesses are responsible for accurate sponsorship claims and compliance with advertising rules.
10. Intellectual property
Cyclists Connect names, logos, and app and website design are our property or our licensors'. You may not copy, reverse engineer, or misuse the Service except as allowed by law or written permission.
11. Termination
You may stop using the Service and request account deletion through in-app settings or by contacting support. We may suspend or terminate access for violations, legal requirements, or to protect users and the platform. Sections that by nature should survive termination (disclaimers, limitations, governing law) will survive.
12. Disclaimers and limitation of liability
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE." TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, CYCLISTS CONNECT DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES AND IS NOT LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR LOSS OF DATA, PROFITS, OR PERSONAL INJURY ARISING FROM USE OF THE SERVICE.
13. Changes and contact
We may update these Terms. Material changes will be reflected with an updated effective date on this page and in the app. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
If any provision is unenforceable, the remainder stays in effect. These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the state where Cyclists Connect is organized, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
Questions: support through cyclistsconnect.com or the contact channel listed in the app About screen.
